OUTsurance, South Africa's leading short-term provider of car, household and business insurances, was voted the top brand in the short-term insurance category during the 2009 Sunday Times Top Brands Awards. The event took place in Johannesburg last week.

It was for the fifth time in six years OUTsurance insurance walked away with the prestigious title.

The Top Brands survey was conducted by TNS Research Surveys, which over the past year interviewed some 3500 South African adults from all population groups, geographical areas, and income groups.

Questions the interviewees were asked included which brands they used regularly. They were also asked to rate brands of their own choice on a “points-out-of-ten” basis. The results of the survey were combined and processed to achieve a final “Brand Relationship Score”, which provides brands with an overall rating on factors such as “trust and confidence”, “commitment” and “brand familiarity”.
